This workshop aims to bring together faculty members in the Pacific Rim Initiative for Sustainable Marine Systems (PRISMS) network to synchronise our existing research connections between Indigenous communities and UBC. We will explore different facets of collaboration, including topics such as top-down versus bottom-up approaches and co-development approaches, long-term relationship-building, equality in partnerships, and data sovereignty, notably First Nations’ Principles for Ownership, Control, Access and Possession (OCAP). This event will be led by Dr. Adrien Desjardins and Dr. Enda Murphy and will consist of short presentations and discussions.

We will be hosting this workshop event at Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS) Building, Room 288 on December 9, 2025 from 9:30am to 11am. Coffee and a light snack will be provided at this event.

Please kindly RSVP for this event as space is limited.
